Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the EU. Global warming can contribute to extreme weather events (floods, droughts, rainstorms and heatwaves), forest fires, water availability problems, melting glaciers and rising sea levels, changes in geographical distribution, extinction of fauna and flora, plant diseases and the spread of pests, food and drinking water shortages and the migration of people fleeing these threats. Environment and climate action are now – and will be in the future – key priorities for the EU.
In December 2019, the European Commission unveiled theEuropean Green Deal, a package of measures to raise the ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and decarbonising the EU economy by 2050 in line with commitments under the Paris Agreement. For this mission to be successful, coordinated action is needed on many levels, especially among young people and educators.
Current levels of environmental awareness and knowledge about environmental sustainability are insufficient. At the same time, ecological trends and the desire to explore the subject are becoming more and more popular. This shows that projects such as Green Team are needed and will be positively received. The consortium selected ten key sectors connected to the area of ecology. Knowledge about them will be the main topic of the manufactured products of the project.
These are:
- Carbon footprint
- Climate literacy
- Renewable energy
- Biodiversity
- Water management
- Food and farming system
- Transport and pollutions
- Sustainable consumption and ecological behavior
- Environmental protection
- Recycling and biodegradation.
To achieve the above, it was decided to take the following actions and create products:
IO1 – Creation of an innovative MOOC
IO2 – Workshop program development – teaching materials
IO3 – Testing & implementation of workshops and platform
IO4 – Development of teaching guides for educators
IO5 – Creation of an innovative e-learning platform
The consortium consists of five EU organizations:

SPAIN Asociación Valencia Inno Hub
GREECE CENTER FOR EDUCATION AND INNOVATION
